Numerical modeling of regions with external buildup involves two main analyses
1st Analysis: Design Pressure (Linear Elastic Material)
Evaluates the stress distribution under normal operating conditions. Uses von Mises equivalent stress and circumferential stress. Results show that stresses at the center of the buildup are lower than the yield point, indicating structural safety, although high stresses are observed in geometric concentrations.
2nd Analysis: Qualification Pressure (Perfect Elasto-Plastic Material)
Examines behavior under more severe pressures, considering yielding. Again uses von Mises equivalent stress. Results indicate that some regions may reach the yield limit, highlighting critical areas that require reinforcement. These analyses are essential to ensure structural integrity and plan monitoring and maintenance strategies in
piping systems.
